Pete Munro - Baseball: Houston Astros For the first twenty five years of my life, I was very lonely and looked everywhere but to God for comfort. When I met my wife, Samantha, she taught me, nurtured me about a God who yearns to have a relationship with His children. She made me aware of a verse that was instrumental in keeping me from alcohol, drugs, or cigarettes for pleasure and led me to Jesus Christ. The verse is Isaiah 41:9-10. It says that God has chosen us from the farthest ends of the earth and to fear not for He is with us. That hit me directly in my heart - He is looking for each and every one of us, personally. Knowing that is such a comfort. I do not need anything else.
"I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, 'You are my servant'; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand" (Isaiah 41:9-10).
